Updated: comment on the incident in Aberdeenshire
Yesterday (Wednesday 12 August) a train derailed near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Paul Plummer, Chief Executive of the Rail Delivery Group which represents the rail industry said:
Our thoughts and those of everyone working in the railway are with the loved ones of those who lost their lives and were injured in yesterday’s tragic incident. Passenger safety is absolutely paramount for rail companies which is why tragic incidents like these are thankfully so rare, and why it is vital to learn any lessons from what happened. As investigations continue, we will support all efforts to build further resilience to extreme weather in future.
