Network Rail opens up for competition under new reforms - RDG responds

Investing to improve rail services is vital to the economy and supporting communities across Britain, RDG chief executive Paul Plummer has said in response to new reforms announced today by Network Rail to enable companies to become heavily involved in delivering railway projects.

Paul Plummer said:

"Investing to improve rail services is vital to the economy and supporting communities across Britain now and for the long term. It is important that we find new ways of working together – not just across the railway including train operators and Network Rail routes and their supply chain but with developers, contractors and investors as well as government at local, regional and national level. We must explore potential new sources of funding for improvements that are not only making journeys better but creating secure, highly skilled jobs.”
