RDG response to the Greengauge 21 report
Paul Plummer, Chief Executive of the Rail Delivery Group, which represents the rail industry, said:
“From building houses, to opening new businesses, to starting new schools, this is more than just about better transport but using rail investment to help to transform communities.
“The partnership railway, of public and private sector, already plans to secure almost £85 billion of extra economic benefits and enable further investment.
“With better connectivity rail could be doing even more and we want to work with governments and local communities to unlock the UK economy’s full potential.”
