Response to RMT's statement today
Following today's statement from the RMT union on a planned ballot for strike action over pensions, a spokesman for the Rail Delivery Group, said:
“The last thing passengers or rail workers want is the misery of a strike. It would be premature in the extreme for RMT to begin hugely disruptive industrial action when a solution is within reach. Having worked with unions, we put forward to Government a firm proposal at the beginning of April to address this deficit in a way that is fair and sustainable for staff, taxpayers and operators. We await Government’s response.”
